Privacy policy
Effective October 18, 2026
BuiltByEden LLC operates What Did I Eat at WhatDidIEat.app. Contact eden@builtbyeden.app about privacy, your account, or your data.
Information used by the service
Clerk handles account sign-in and the email address used to access your account. We do not require your name, username, address, date of birth, or medical information. Our meal database stores your Clerk account identifier, the time zone supplied with your first meal, meal dates, descriptions, portions, calories, calorie sources, estimate assumptions, and record creation and update times. Technical identifiers help prevent duplicate saves.
Do not put passwords, login codes, medical records, or unrelated personal information into meal descriptions. Calorie values may be estimates and are not medical assessments.
How information is used
We use these details to authenticate your account, save and display your journal, calculate daily totals, apply requested corrections or deletions, prevent duplicate entries, and respond to support requests. We do not sell meal or account data, use it for advertising, or run advertising trackers in the app.
Service providers and ChatGPT
Cloudflare hosts the application and stores meal data in D1. Clerk processes authentication and account linking. These providers may process technical request information, such as IP addresses and browser details, to deliver and secure the service. Authentication uses necessary cookies and related browser storage. The application does not intentionally log meal content, passwords, or access tokens.
If you connect ChatGPT, Clerk shares your verified email address with OpenAI to identify the linked account and support workspace domain checks. OpenAI also receives the meal details you send in that conversation and the tool results needed for your request, such as saved meals and daily totals. We receive the specific meal tool arguments, not your full chat history. ChatGPT and other providers' services are also governed by their own policies: OpenAI, Clerk, and Cloudflare. Data may be processed in the United States and other countries where these providers operate.
Retention and deletion
Meal records remain in your active journal until you delete them, clear the journal, or close the account. Individual deletion and the web app's “Delete all journal data” control remove the corresponding records from the active meal database immediately. A verified Clerk account-deletion event also removes the associated journal. Cloudflare's recovery history may retain prior database versions for up to 30 days before they expire; deleted entries are not available through the normal app.
Clerk retains sign-in account information until the account is deleted, subject to its security and legal retention practices. Closing your account does not remove copies already present in your ChatGPT conversations; manage those conversations with OpenAI. We retain support correspondence for up to 12 months after the request is resolved, unless a longer period is required by law.
Your controls
You can view, correct, delete, or export journal data from the web app. Manage your sign-in account through the profile control. Disconnect the plugin in ChatGPT to stop future account access; already-issued access tokens may remain valid until they expire. Email us to request access, correction, or deletion assistance. We verify ownership before acting on account requests.
Children and changes
The service is not directed to children under 13. Do not create an account if you are under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided information, contact us so we can investigate and remove it. We will post changes to this policy here with an updated effective date and notify users of material changes when required.
